Knockhill Thrill

Knockhill was the scene for rounds 9, 10 and 11 of the 2021 Ginetta GT4 Supercup. It was also the scene of my 22nd birthday celebrations. However after an unfortunate qualifying there wasn't much to celebrate, P6 after the rain came down after just 1 lap meaning it was those who left the pitlane early benefited, we were the wrong side of luck.
In the races we fought well. After a strong start in Race 1 of the weekend saw us into 3rd place from 6th, it was a race long battle to maintain the position, ultimately we conceded the position bringing it home in 4th.
Race 2 was a simpler affair, starting 4th and finishing 4th, overtaking is difficult around the tight and twisty Knockhill circuit but good track position would set us up nicely for the final race of the weekend, the reverse grid!
The ITV 4 live televised race 3 saw us line up 2nd on the grid. After a slightly slower start, we dropped down to 3rd after the opening lap. As the 2 leaders battled it was all about maintaining the pace and track position, 24 laps of the hard racing was bound to take it's tole. On lap 16 the safety car was deployed for an incident further down the field and it was a 6 lap dash to the flag once racing had resumed. In the end it was 3rd place with the car coming on strong in the final few laps. It was not quite enough to challenge the car in front but a 4th podium of the year and maintaining our 100% record of podium finishes at every weekend so far was a nice way to end the weekend and made the long trip home much easier on the mind.
We now have just 10 days till we are next out at Thruxton!
