Thruxton Thoughts

Rounds 12,13 and 14 were held at Europe's fastest circuit, Thruxton. The BTCC's second visit to the venue this year but a first for us in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup.
Qualifying was tough, a red flag as we finished our first flying lap on new tyres meant we were on the back foot when the session resumed. A strong second flying lap secured 3rd on the grid but we felt we had more to give.
Race 1 made us work for it, the highly abrasive track surface of Thruxton made setting up the car difficult, with tyres over heating and an imbalance in the cars handling it was a race long battle to maintain our 3rd place. With speeds reaching up to 155 mph it was certainly an eyebrow raising fight. We held on for podium number 5 of the year.
With a better understanding of the set up and car performance we made some changes for Race 2. This time that podium came to us much easier, 3rd place again and gaining a spot in the drivers championship meant it was all smiles at Preptech UK ahead of our reverse grid race 3.
Live on ITV 4 we lined up 4th for Sundays reverse grid race. A good start meant we were straight away into 3rd place. A battle for the lead then ensued. A fair move around the outside of the chicane nearly paid off but contact on the exit with another driver unfortunately ended our race. We were gutted with our race 3 result and the subsequent negligence in the post race judiciaries.
Another tough weekend of racing but we will always come back stronger. We are now the only team and driver to achieve 100% podiums at every race weekend so far. We have real pace but unfortunately poor driving standards ruined what could've been.
We look forward to turning things around at croft in a little over 2 weeks time!
